Local Area
Agreement Themes > Safer & Stronger Communities
 |
|
The
Government has grouped a number of national priorities
within the Safer and Stronger Communities block in the Local
Area Agreement.
|
These include crime reduction and prevention,
reducing the fear of crime, reducing anti-social behaviour, reducing drugs and alcohol
misuse, civil renewal and active
citizenship, community cohesion, race
equality, and addressing disadvantage. Calderdale Forward is committed
to working together to address these priorities.
Particular issues for Calderdale around these policy
priorities include high levels of crimes of violence against a
trend of falling crime levels in the District, providing
diversionary activities for young people, tackling alcohol and drug misuse, promoting
greater cohesion between settlements and cultures, improving
community engagement and communication, addressing deprivation
within certain neighbourhoods, and improving public services.
