Appointments to
the NHS Calderdale Kirklees Wakefield Cluster
As part of the
transition arrangements for local NHS services, it has been
decided that primary care trusts in certain localities should
form clusters to ensure resilience in terms of maintaining a
close grip on areas such as patient safety, performance
and finance.
One Chief Executive
will cover a cluster, supported by a single Executive Team.
This team will then be adopted by each of the statutory PCT
boards within the cluster as their Executive Director Team. The
cluster Chief Executive will become the Accountable Officer for
each PCT within the cluster. Each PCT will retain its statutory
Board and will remain accountable until PCTs are abolished in
2013.
Locally the cluster
will include NHS Calderdale, NHS Kirklees and NHS Wakefield
District. Angela Monaghan, the current Chair of NHS Calderdale
has been appointed Chair of the Cluster Partnership and Mike
Potts, currently Chief Executive of NHS Kirklees, has been
appointed as Chief Executive designate. It is expected that the
Cluster Partnership will be operational by 1 June.

Obesity
Regional Support Review
NHS Calderdale
is undertaking a review to understand the current work and
activities that are being carried out across the Borough to
tackle obesity. The review will focus on the delivery of obesity
reduction strategies and it will also seek to understand how and
to what extent complementary programmes and initiatives
contribute to the delivery of this target. The primary purpose
for the review is to gather comprehensive information to inform
the focus of future strategies and priorities for Calderdale.
Following the
National Support Team (NST) framework for public health reviews,
the initial work will largely be done by email, followed by key
stakeholder attendance at a plenary session and either a 1-1 or
group interview session to be facilitated by the Regional Team.
Key stakeholders will be invited to contribute details of their
work towards the obesity strategy in the form of a detailed gap
analysis. This will then contribute to a ‘Reducing Obesity in
Calderdale’ working document to be presented at the Obesity
Regional Support Review. A feedback session will be held
subsequently.
Additions to the
draft key stakeholders list should be emailed to Rachel.morton2@calderdale-pct.nhs.uk
as soon as possible.
For further
information about the review please contact
Gaynor Scholefield, Public Health Manager, 01422 281512.
