What is the purpose of the
Calderdale Assembly?
The purpose of
the first Assembly is to help develop Calderdale’s first
Wellbeing Strategy and support broader strategic planning. This
will be achieved by seeking agreement on key issues for
Calderdale from the evidence of need presented and collecting
views on key priority outcomes for the Wellbeing Strategy from a
diverse range of stakeholders.
The second Assembly will look at progress in developing the
Wellbeing Strategy and the Assembly’s development,
including membership and role and remit.
When is the first Assembly
taking place?
The Assembly will meet every 6
months. The first Assembly is taking place on Thursday 10th
November 2011.
Who will be invited to the
first Calderdale Assembly?
It has been agreed that Calderdale Forward Board
members will nominate up to 3 representatives each. If this does
not result in a balanced representation of public sector,
business sector, voluntary sector and communities of interest
representatives, additional invitations will be issued in
consultation with Board members. The total number of delegates
will not exceed 100.
What evidence will the
Calderdale Assembly consider?
Delegates will receive information prior to the
event on the evidence of need collated from (i) individual needs
assessments where they exist such as the Joint Strategic Needs
Assessment, the Local Economic Assessment, the Child Poverty
Needs Assessment, the Safer & Stronger Strategic Assessment; and
(ii) other key documents such as Local Development Framework
Evidence Base and PRG Business Cases.
Information will
be gathered under six broad themes:
-
Health
-
Safer &
Stronger
-
Housing
-
Environment
-
Economy
-
Child
Poverty
Lead Officers from Theme
Partnerships will help pull the information together.
What is the programme for the
day?
The programme is now
available.
There will be five workshops looking
at need through a life stage approach:
What will happen after the
first Assembly?

consultation will take place with stakeholders and the
public on priorities and action plans in early 2012.
- Work
streams will be delivered by the Health & Wellbeing Board,
relevant Theme Partnerships and Task & Finish Groups.
- There
will be ongoing communication with Assembly delegates and
stakeholders via e-bulletins and the website.
