Calderdale Health and Wellbeing Board
Calderdale has joined
a network of early implementers of Health and Wellbeing Boards.
The Board will lead on the
strategic co-ordination of planning and buying local health
services, social care for both children and adults and public
health services to promote more local control over those
services. All organisations working in these areas will
develop a shared understanding of local need and agree the best
strategy to meet that with the funding and resources available.
Calderdale Health & Wellbeing Board is planning to publish its
first Health and Wellbeing Strategy by December 2011.
The
Health and Wellbeing Board’s purpose is (extract from Terms of
Reference):
-
To oversee and implement the
establishment of a Calderdale Health and Wellbeing Board in
readiness to assume its statutory responsibilities from
April 2013.
-
To oversee the transfer of
public health responsibilities and arrangements to the local
authority.
-
To provide local accountability
for improved health and wellbeing and health equality
outcomes for the population of Calderdale.
-
To promote integration and
partnership working between the NHS and local government, as
well as promoting joint working with commissioners and
providers of services that impact on wider health
determinants.
The Board
replaced the Health and Social Care Partnership Board and will
operate in shadow form until April 2013. The
role and focus of the Board will develop and change over
time. |
